Close-Up Expeditions -- designed for avid photographers of any age. If
you enjoy the adventure of travel, the thrill of discovery, the camera-camaraderie
of learning and sharing photographic skills then you will enjoy Close-Up
Expeditions.
On a Close-Up Expeditions trip, photography comes first! Close-Up Expeditions
usually have a specific photographic focus-Travel (e.g. Burma, Greece, Thai
Hill Tribes) or Nature (e.g. Everglades, SW Deserts in Bloom, Wild Alaska).
Our Style of Travel
Each CUE itinerary is custom designed for photography-we've chosen the best
time of year, built in extra time and repeat visits to key places. Early
morning and late evening are the best times for photography -- making for
long but productive days.
We enjoy eating in cafes that reflect the local culture, but when photography
and meal times coincide, the classic CUE response is a picnic -- often the
opportunity for some memorable images. Meals, also, are a time to share
the day1s adventures and discuss the next day's schedule. Accommodations
are chosen for photographic location, value and character more than luxury.
Transportation is in go-anywhere, stop anytime vans because the best pictures
are often just waiting alongside the road.
Photographic Instruction
With a guide to client ratio of 1:7, you will receive as much, or as little,
instruction as you like. CUE guides are always willing to help with composition,
exposures and new techniques -- or turn you loose in magnificent surroundings.
CUE clients expose three to seven rolls per day.
Fieldnotes
Not sure if a particular trip is for you? Read CUE Fieldnotes (available
for $3/ copy) -- a detailed account of the day-to-day events from a previous
trip. Fieldnotes help you choose the right trip every time.
